BISMARCK RADIO TELEGRAM

Radiogram sent by Group West to the Bismarck at 1842 hours on 24 May 1941, it reads:

"1. Cordial congratulations.
2. Preparations at St. Nazaire and Brest will be made. [Gruppe West] agrees with the intention [to seperate] “Prinz Eugen”. If seperation is successful, an extended waiting period in a remote region at sea appears advisable for “Bismarck”. Assume maximum speed of “Bismarck” is 28 kn. Reporting required, if submersion [draft] is above normal."
