ABOUT THE WEBMASTER
My name is José M. Rico, and I am the webmaster and editor of KBismarck.com website.
I currently live in Madrid, Spain, and you may contact me via e-mail.
Keep in mind however, that sometimes due to the vast amount of mail I receive, it may take a couple of days before you get a reply, but I always respond to those messages that require so.
Please don't hesitate to write me, but for your research questions also consider making full use of our FORUM.
I was born in El Ferrol, a town in the northwestern coast of Spain with a deep naval tradition.
Hundreds of ships of all kinds have been built in Ferrol since the 18th century.
From the old sailing ships to the modern aircraft carriers Príncipe de Asturias and Chakri Naruebet, as well as battleships and numerous cruisers, destroyers, frigates, etc.
Today the naval factory complex of the shipbuilding firm NAVANTIA (formerly IZAR and previously BAZAN) has an extension of over 910,000 m˛ and includes three big docks and three slipways.
If you would like to know more about Ferrol take a look HERE.

Although I don't serve in the Navy, I am nonetheless highly interested in naval history, most notably the German Navy in World War II.
I have written a couple of articles for related military and naval magazines in Spain.
I have also self-published my own book on the battleship Bismarck of which you can read more about HERE.
Fortunately, I have never been on board of a sinking ship, although my great grandfather was lost in the sinking of the Spanish heavy cruiser Baleares (sister ship of the Canarias) on the 6th of March 1938, during the Spanish Civil War.
He was a Lieutenant Engineer and most probably did not have time to abandon the ship.
Finally, besides the Bismarck site, I also maintain FeelMadrid.com, a small travel website about Madrid that could be a good starting point if you plan on visiting the city.
Feel free to take a look if you are interested.
Have a good time and thanks for visiting!
