Died: 27 May, 1941 aboard Bismarck.

Additional notes: Gottfried Lenneffer was born in Bergisch-Gladbach near Cologne; he grew up and went to school there. He was later trained as a mechanic. Gottfried Lenneffer was the son of Gerhard (vintage 1894) and Anna Kierspel (vintage 1891), and had three brothers, Anton, Oskar and Heinz. The father, Gerhard, was a veteran of both World Wars, and served both times in France. Gottfried's oldest brother, Anton (Toni), was a Captain in the army, he fought on the Russian front, and was later a POW there for six years. His younger brothers both served in the Kriegsmarine. Oskar in the U-boat arm and Heinz on minesweepers. All three brothers survived the war, but have died since, the last being Heinz who passed away in 1988.
