15 cm SK C/28 PHOTOS

This set of photos taken at the Wehrtechnische Sammlung Koblenz, Germany, show a 15 cm gun of the secondary battery of the battleship Tirpitz (although it was never installed onboard). In the background of the two photos below there is an illustration of the Tirpitz and her first commander Captain Karl Topp.

This ship’s cannon, a weapon mounted on the naval double gun-mount, the SK [SK = Schnell-Lade-Kanone = rapid reloading cannon. UR] C/28 was installed on the largest battleship of the world, the Tirpitz. The battleship was armed with:

8 x 38 cm guns in 4 naval double gun-mounts and
12 x 15 cm guns in 6 naval double gun-mounts (3 on port and 3 on starboard) for combat against targets at sea.
16 x 10.5 cm anti-aircraft guns for aerial targets as well as
16 x 3.7 cm anti-aircraft guns for close-in defense
